BULAWAYO food lovers will once again be in for a treat as the Munch and Sip food market makes a return on 12 December.

The event, which has grown from just being a food outing, will also see artistes that include Asaph, Sylent Nqo, MJ Sings and DJ CP entertaining the crowd.

The venue this year goes back to the traditional outdoor space at Mystique in Hillside. Last year’s event was held at ZITF.

Tickets are being sold at Liquor Supplies shops and by Munch and Sip ambassadors.

Munch and Sip food market founder Mandipa Masuku said the event has grown with each passing year.

“We have grown so much from being a stage for up-and-coming to hosting stages with award winners as this is what happens when you grow where you just want better. We do have surprise acts this time around.

“Our main acts are our food stalls because really this is for them. Other countries take their food seriously, the quality, the ingredients, the presentation, it’s important to other cultures but in Zimbabwe it’s not always prioritised that’s why the chefs are the heroes of the day,” said Masuku.

Masuku said the event brings exquisite types of food from top notch chefs.

“The chefs are stepping out of the usual isitshwala and stew and making tacos or paellas. If we could get to a point where our foodies can experiment with Zimbabwean ingredients then we have worked.

“Everything surrounding our events is done out of love for our city.

“We go out of our way to have the best photo opportunities for everyone and that’s what sets us apart from our competitors. So people are guaranteed of a different experience each time but a ‘munch and sip touch,’” said Masuku. – @mthabisi_mthire
