ZIMBABWE Warriors vice-captain Marshal Munetsi has proven he can hit a poker both on the pitch and in the bedroom. The midfield maestro recently welcomed his second son with wife Anotida Makove, proudly announcing: “And then we were four.”
Known for his vision, playmaking, and clutch goals for Wolves and the national team, Munetsi has now added a new milestone off the field. The “poker” refers to both his growing family and his knack for scoring under the sheets, a cheeky nod to his personal life triumphs.
Munetsi tied the knot with long-time girlfriend Anotida in 2022 at Umwinzi Gardens in Harare. Their expanding family joins a select group of Warriors stars keeping their private lives intact, including Teenage Hadebe and Kuda Mahachi, who wed their partners in 2020 and 2021 respectively.
Speaking about his career, Munetsi revealed his loyalty to his former South African club Orlando Pirates. “I do not think I would probably be able to go to South Africa and sign for another team that is not Orlando Pirates. That is how much that team means to me. They took me all the way from Cape Town, gave me an opportunity, and prepared me for the stage I am on today,” he told Kickoff.
On the international front, Munetsi and the Warriors are gearing up for their penultimate 2026 Fifa World Cup qualifier against South Africa next month. The Group C clash will take place in Botswana, a change from previous “home” matches played in South Africa to avoid giving Bafana Bafana a home advantage.
South Africa will be chasing a win to boost their World Cup hopes, while Zimbabwe, already eliminated from qualification, will use the game to prepare for the 2025 Afcon finals in Morocco. The exact stadium in Botswana is yet to be confirmed by the Zimbabwe Football Association.
For Munetsi, it has been a season of milestones both on and off the pitch. From leading the Warriors to celebrating a growing family, the talented midfielder shows that life off the field can be just as rewarding as scoring the winning goal.
Fans are now cheering not only for Munetsi’s midfield magic but also for the newest addition to the Munetsi clan, marking a cheeky poker victory in both life and love.
