FRIENDLY Academy, basking in the glory of Marshall Munetsi making it into the English Premiership, will begin their 2025 season preparations at Raylton Sports Club on Saturday.
The Academy was in the headlines this week after Munetsi, one of their products, joined Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Sydney Matanhike, one of the academy’s founding members, said they are going to start the 2025 season preparations this weekend.
They will have training sessions from the Under-10 to Under-20 age groups.
The team, whose senior side plays in the Harare Province U21 Challenge Football League, have managed to get several players from last season to join some Division One and Premier League teams.
“We are going to start our pre-season preparations this weekend from the Under-10 to under-20 age groups in preparation for the Harare Province Junior League.
“We are looking forward to a huge number of players turning out for the pre-season with most of our players from last year still interested in continuing with us.
“There is a lot of work to be done and this year we look forward to a successful season with so many new programs lined up for the year.
“As Friendly Academy we look forward to continue grooming talent not only from Harare as we have always partnered with RM Africa, for the annual Matengambiri Soccer Tournament which we host at Dambakupetwa Primary School in Nyanga.
“The tournament is aimed at promoting education through sport and youth empowerment by recruiting young players, boys and girls, with potential for high school scholarships and further development,” said Matanhike.
