THE only woman in the five-member Powerlifting and Fitness team, which is bound for Thailand, says she is now ready for the big occasion.

Spiwe Munyaka is part of the team bound or the United World Sports and Fitness Federation (UWSFF) Championships set for August 21 to 23 in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

The seasoned athlete will take part in the Squat ,Deadlift, and Bench Press (SBD) in the 80kg to 89 kgs categories. “So far, so good. All gym preparations are going well. I am blasting so hard and everything is going according to my programme.

“No injuries, no muscle discomfort.

“I’m expecting a victory in my category and overall too. I feel more conditioned and super ready and I’m not expecting anything other than the gold medal,” said Munyaka.

Munyaka’s preparations have, however, not gone without challenges as she put in the final push.

“l am, however, facing some obstacles mostly on my diet and accessories due to financial strains.

“I will be so grateful if sponsors chip in and help make my victory certain.

“I would like to appreciate all the sponsors who have so far assisted me like Sanja Fitness Centre, Clifford Makiwa, Energy ‘Dhala’ Dube, Vongaishe Mupereri, Primrose Mutatu, among several others.” The athlete praised her coach, GS Mhaka, whom she said pushes her to the limit.

“I am grateful that l am working under Mhaka who is very hard but l really like the hard part of him because he always pushes me to pass my limits.  He is not an easy man but his results are guaranteed,” added Munyaka.

Munyaka will be taking part in her second international tournament after participating in the world championships in Dubai in February where she won her category and came out third overall.

During the February event she managed to break her deadlift and squat personal records of 160kg deadlift and 155kgs on squat .
