Zanu-PF Senator for Makonde Cde Prisca Mupfumira has pledged to continue with community empowerment projects in Makonde District. Addressing meet-and-greet gatherings in Chinhoyi at the weekend, Cde Mupfumira said all the projects she had been spearheading will continue.
The projects include poultry, sewing and cooperatives. It is understood that a road-runner chicken project for women will be launched in a fortnight.
“Women, you need to empower yourselves and there is a pipeline road-runner project which is going to kick-start next week, so you should come and participate,” she said. Senator Mupfumira also urged party supporters to concentrate on campaigning for President Mnangagwa and building Zanu-PF from the grassroots level.
“Let’s campaign for President Emmerson Mnangagwa as our sole candidate for this year’s harmonised elections. All other positions are not yet there, you need also to concentrate on building the party from the grassroots that is, forming cells and branches,” she said. She also urged people to go and register to vote during the Biometric Voter Registration (BVR) mop-up exercise.
“It’s everyone’s responsibility to persuade each other to go and register as no one must be left out. So let’s play our part and make sure people register as voters,” she said. Chinhoyi Ward 1 councillor Cde Tapera Mutovhido welcomed Senator Mupfumira’s pledge.
“What Cde Mupfumira is doing is very commendable and worthy, as people are now earning a living through these projects,” he said. Clr Mutovhido said the projects will go a long way in empowering people through job creation and empowerment. Senator Mupfumira visited some of the wards in Chinhoyi, including Alaska and Shackleton Mine compounds.
