ALL is set for 2018 Warren Park Soccer Tournament which roars into life tomorrow with eight teams from the suburb vying for honours. The tournament will be held at Warren Park Sports Grounds with the Warren Park ZRP team participating as the guest team.

The games are being sponsored by the Gilbert Muponda Foundation which was launched recently.
The qualifying games were held in December 2 last year with 28 teams from the suburb taking part.

The Gilbert Muponda Foundation was founded by investment banker and entrepreneur, Gilbert Muponda, who grew up in Warren Park.

He believes the tournament is a way of giving back to the area where he grew up.
“We, as a foundation, saw the need to bankroll the tournament as a way of promoting recreation and also to identify talent among the young people in Warren Park.

“The Gilbert Muponda Foundation is sponsoring the tournament as a way to engaging the youths and keep them away from harmful vices such as drugs and crime.

“In addition talented youths can be discovered by talent scouts who will be at the tournament,” Muponda said.
Scouts from top teams in the Premier Soccer League and the Northern Region Division One League are expected to be in attendance.
