THREE Harare men appeared in court yesterday for allegedly killing a taxi driver and stealing his vehicle.

They allegedly then used the car to rob two people of their goods and cash amounting to US$650 and $85 bond notes.

Tawanda Gedion (38), Clayton Musiiwa (33) and Nyasha Uchatizwa (33) appeared before Harare magistrate Mrs Babra Mateko on charges of murder and two counts of robbery.

They were denied bail and remanded in custody to April 29.

On March 9, the accused persons and two accomplices, who are still at large, allegedly approached the taxi driver who was in his white Honda Fit at the corner of Kwame Nkurumah and Park Street.

They misrepresented to him that they wanted to be ferried to Sunningdale to attend a funeral.

When they were close to Sunningdale Primary School precast wall along Boshoff Drive, the accused persons strangled the taxi driver and stabbed him twice on the thigh.

The trio and their accomplice pushed him out of his car and he died on the spot.
