CHINA-BASED Zimbabwe football development coach Walter ”Ringers” Musanhu has added yet another feather to his cap after winning two prestigious accolades in the 2022 edition of the Africa Asia-Pacific awards.
Musanhu runs a flourishing football nursery in the Asian country, Jadel Academy, whose recruits are drawn from different countries across the globe.
He has since established a branch in Zimbabwe with plans to dot the academy across the continent.
He has been so tireless in his quest to develop young talent over the years.
And Musanhu has been honoured with two prizes in the annual Africa Asia-Pacific awards held recently.
The former Zimbabwe youth international, who is brother to the legendary ex-DeMbare and Warriors defender Chamu Musanhu, bagged the Youth Development and Corporate Achievement awards.
This is his first time to win the awards.
Speaking from Thaiwoo Skiing Resort in Zhangjiakou where his team is taking part in the 16-day Thaiwoo tournament, Walter Musanhu said he was elated to receive the awards.
“You see there is no better feeling than being rewarded for doing what you love the most,” said Walter Musanhu.
“I am humbled by the honour. This gives me even more energy to direct towards my work.
“My passion is development and I am trying to make the world a better place for talented kids.
“But, I am very happy to have been recognised in this huge way. I will keep on putting in the work, even better than before.”
His academy’s Under-10 and Under-8 teams are currently participating in the elite 16-day tournament that is featuring more than 500 teams.
The competition began last week.
The 8-A-side contest being held at the Thaiwoo Skiing Resort in Zhangjiakou Hebei Province and will run until August 9.
Walter Musanhu is competing in the tournament with 14 kids from his Jadel Academy and they are David Liu, Kevin, Andy, Emma Hu, Elsa, Gary Kashitiku (a Zimbabwean), Daniel, Daniel Gu, Ethan Liu, Brayden, Yvess Xu, Alec Xiaobo (Junior Development), Wake Fang (Junior Development) and Ethan Hu (Junior Development.
He is also accompanied by first assistant coach Gomes, girls assistant coach Freya and co-ordinator Mr Ran.
Jadel Academy registered Under-10 and Under-8 players for the 16-day tournament. The Under-8 team are already in the top 4 while the Under-10 side will play for third and fourth place.
Walter Musanhu has emerged as one of the changers in junior development in the Asian country where he has nurtured several players some of whom are now being sought-after by elite teams across the world.
