ARON Musarurwa dominated the inaugural World Fitness Federation Midlands Championship after he was crowned both junior and senior men’s body-building champion at Queens Sports Club in Kwekwe at the weekend.

Musarurwa defied all odds to take first place in the juniors’ section, relegating Stanslous Chirenje and Prince Moyo to second and third places.

In the senior men, Musarurwa was ahead of Enock Mugariwa and Darlington Mukanwa, who were second and third respectively.

Musarurwa, who was born and bred in Mashonaland East farming community of Beatrice, said he was happy with the win and is looking forward to continuing working hard.

Musarurwa has the distinction of being one of a handful of body-builders who compete in both the junior and senior men’s categories, as he will be turning 23 on November 11.

“I am very grateful to all those who supported me and my trainer. The contest was a tough one and winning it shows that I worked hard throughout.

“I am now looking forward to other contests,” said Musarurwa.

In the men’s sport model category, Beloved George lived up to his billing after he managed to defend his title.

The Harare-based hulk had promised to do well at the tournament and he managed to continue with his dominance after he won most of the contests he participated in this year.

George managed to get the better of Malcome Dzvuke and Pearson Charakupa.

George heaped praises on the organisers of the contest and the federation’s secretary-general Alec Jaure, who he said inspired him a lot.

“I am happy to win. To be where I am, it is through Jaure who helped me with more knowledge in body-building. To have all these positive results he pushed me. When I broke my wrist, he comforted me and I managed to bounce back.

“I am looking forward to more contests and I hope I am going to do well throughout the season,” said George.
