ORGANISERS of the second edition of the Musclemania bodybuilding contest are hopeful of attracting a qualify field of athletes when the competition is staged at Ochi City on Saturday. Event co-ordinator Tofara Moyo yesterday said most of the household names in local bodybuilding circles have shown a keen interest to take part in what could probably be the richest bodybuilding show on the land this year.
Top prizes of a VW Golf vehicle and a residential stand are some of the prizes that have been dangled for the hulks.
“The athletes are still coming in to register and the event is on at Ochi City on Saturday. Pre-judging will be done in the morning at Scorpion Gym.
“Some of the locally based top athletes like Victor Hungwe, Vincent Kandiyero, Isaac Sugar Chimuchenga, Eddie Marondera and Paston Chatedzuka are set to take part,” said Moyo.
Chatedzuka is the reigning Mr Harare while Brighton Mazikana and Nunurai Masosonere , who won the Mr Novice are expected to battle for honours.
Moyo said the organsing committee was still working on how to distribute the prizes that have been availed by their partners.
“We have five categories but we are cracking our heads over how to distribute the top prizes like the car, and the stand.
“There are some household goods like televisions sets and even cash prizes,” said Moyo.
Botswana-based bodybuilder Champion Mbewe is expected to take part while veteran Zumailer Eusen Maman could also try to wrestle the top prize.
Besides the senior men’s category, Musclemania contests will also take part in the juniors, the women and the wheelchair sections.
Dendera music exponent Sulumani Chimbetu is expected to provide some entertainment during breaks and after the show.
