A 27-YEAR-OLD Ruwa Mushakashika driver, Luckman Kamangile, has been arrested after he fatally assaulted his 40-year-old passenger, Amos Karumba, last Friday following a dispute over ZiG20 change.
Karumba was reportedly attacked by Kamangile after he had requested his change upon arriving at his stop at Walker Mutamba.
He had boarded the Honda Fit that Kamangile was driving at George Shopping Centre.
Witnesses said Kamangile refused to return the money, leading to a heated confrontation. The two men engaged in a scuffle. Kamangile allegedly left Karumba, who was injured and sped off.
Karumba was taken to a clinic for treatment. Unfortunately, he died the following day at home, prompting police to take action.
Harare’s deputy provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Faith Mapisa, confirmed Kamangile’s arrest.
“Police apprehended a Ruwa man in connection with the murder of one of his passengers,” she stated.
“The death occurred after an altercation that reportedly stemmed from a dispute over change. The deceased’s body was transported to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals for a post-mortem examination.”
