CHESS players Emarald Mushore and Carol Ndlovu scored milestone achievements at the ongoing World Chess Olympiad which is being held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.
Mushore attained the FIDE Master (FM) title after scoring six wins out of nine games.
Mushore’s achievement came after a long journey of dedication, discipline and consistent effort.
The talented player showed great focus and perseverance, competing competently at the highest level.
Todd Mapingire, the Zimbabwe Chess Federation president who was present when Mushore made the milestone achievement, praised the player for his never-die attitude.
“As the ZCF president, I would want to congratulate and celebrate Mushore’s milestone achievement.”
I wish him even greater success as he continues to grow and represent the nation with pride,” Mapingire said.
Bulawayo-based Ndlovu attained the WFM conditional title, a major step forward for the young player.
Ndlovu is aiming at reaching the 1900 ratings. Mapingire also spoke highly about Ndlovu.
“Carol is only 17, yet she has already earned the opportunity to represent Zimbabwe at the Olympiad.”
“She has attained the WFM title which is a reputable feat.”
“To Carol, I say keep pushing. We believe in your talent and we look forward to celebrating you again when you hit 1900,” Mapingire said.
