Mutandiro appointed NetOne COO

Business Reporter
NetOne Cellular has appointed top business executive Brian Mutandiro as the Chief Operating Officer.

The post was created following the restructuring exercise at the mobile telecommunications company last year. NetOne’s Chief Executive Officer Engineer Reward Kangai confirmed Mr Mutandiro’s appointment.

“He brings in a wealth of experience from various organisations where he held senior managerial positions. We believe, his appointment will take this organisation to another level as we strive to regain our number one spot in the sector.’’

NetOne whose subscriber base ballooned to 4 million last year from 2,5 million in 2014 is currently embarking on a turnaround programme.

Last year the organisation installed 148 base stations countrywide, the largest figure since the company’s inception 20 years ago. Mr Mutandiro has been at the helm of four top companies in Zimbabwe including Innscor Africa and Coca Cola.

Mr Mutandiro is optimistic of turning around the fortunes at NetOne.

“From the onset, we need a paradigm shift. We need to see infinite opportunities in our sector and establish how we can turn them into business. Opportunities for NetOne are bountiful and it’s incumbent upon us all here to harness them for the common good of both our organisation, and the country at large,” he said.

A holder of an Honours Degree in Economics from Essex University and an MBA from London International College, he is currently studying for a Masters in Business Psychology with the South Wales University in the UK.
