MUTARE City will this afternoon know their fate when the PSL Disciplinary Committee deliberate on their use of a suspended player in their match against FC Platinum at Mandava.
The club has since furnished the league with what led them to use Kudakwashe Gurure in that match which ended in a 1-all draw.
Some clubs claimed yesterday that the official correspondence they received from the PSL last week, related to the suspended players, did not have Gurure’s name on the list.
But the emails, which were circulated to all the media houses had four players including Gurure’s name on the list of suspended players.
Mutare City, though, cannot rely on what they read from the media.
According to the PSL Rules and Regulations standing order 36.1.4 “use of an unregistered/ineligible player in league match, three points will be deducted and thrown away and a fine as set by the League from time to time.”
This means the club might lose points if it’s not found that it was an administrative blunder from the league which led them to field the player.
PSL chief executive Kenny Ndebele said they had received the club’s report.
Mutare City club chairman Isdore Bingura said they were not aware the player had been suspended.
“We were not aware that the player was suspended. We only got to know it after the match when FC Platinum started to complain.
“We always get the information from emails or on the official PSL Faceboook page. And we checked on that page, there was nothing. So we are now waiting for the verdict from the Premier Soccer League.”
Mutare City have 17 points.
