INDUSTRIES here need Government support to achieve full potential, Minister of State for Manicaland Provincial Affairs Cde Monica Mutsvangwa has said.

She said the industries had the capacity to transform the socio-economic face of Manicaland Province and the country at large. Minister Mutsvangwa was speaking on the sidelines of a tour of Mutare Bottling Company, Kenrose Filters and Mutare Dry Port last Thursday.

She said although the state of some local industries was devastating, they had the potential to create employment for thousands of people.

“A lot needs to be done. We will support these ailing industries because they have full potential that will transform the country’s economic face. The companies need our support in order to create employment. It is a pity some of the companies, like Kenrose Filters, invested a lot of money in their business. They are operating below par.

“There is need for financial relief on these companies so that they can be able to increase capacity. A lot of work needs to be done but I am happy that the impending resuscitation of rail will impact positively on the rehabilitation of some of these companies,” she said.
