The National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) has officially launched its special rail leisure service this morning, with the inaugural train to Mutare departing from Harare at 7:12 a.m.
Announced just last week, this new service offers a scenic journey through the Eastern Highlands, connecting the capital to the host city of the 18th Sanganai/Hlanganani World Tourism Expo.
The train’s departure marks a significant step for the NRZ in its efforts to boost domestic tourism and provide new travel options for those attending the expo.

Passengers on the inaugural trip are looking forward to experiencing the breathtaking landscapes of the Eastern Highlands en route, while additional short scenic rides within a 20km radius of Mutare will be offered on September 10 and 11.
The special rail service is a collaborative effort between the NRZ, the Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry and the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority.
