A 35-year-old man from Mutoko has been jailed 30 years for raping his two biological daughters aged 7 and 5 on many occasions during the night or early in the morning before they left for school.

The National Prosecuting Authority said in a statement that the man had been divorced from the girls’ mother and threatened them not to tell anyone about the abuse.

The matter came to light on March 18, 2024 after the local councillor received an anonymous tip-off, prompting him to question the complainants who then revealed the abuse leading to the accused person’s arrest, NPA said in a statement.

The man was sentenced to the standard 15 years jail on each count and will serve an effective 30 years.
