WOMEN in Mutoko South Constituency are being empowered through poultry projects that are being spearheaded by legislator Cde Isaac Tasikani (ZANU PF).
Cde Tasikani recently donated 5 100 chicks to women from his constituency, and also gave them starter packs at an event held at Mutoko Centre.
The chicks were received by the chairpersons of various women’s groups that are benefitting from the project.
Cde Tasikani implored beneficiaries to ensure that they rear the chicks properly so that they can benefit from the project.
“I am honoured to donate 5100 chicks and start-up feed to our women in Mutoko South Constituency,” he said.
“This initiative aligns with President Mnangagwa’s Vision 2030, aimed at empowering Zimbabweans.
“I am grateful for the President’s leadership and vision. Through this project, our women will benefit from economic empowerment and improved food security. I want to thank President Mnangagwa for his tireless efforts in transforming our nation.”
Speaking after receiving the chicks, chairperson of the Kubatana group, Mrs Norma Tsiga, whose group received 200 chicks, said women empowerment is the way to go.
“This is a welcome development for us women. Our MP has just surprised us and we are very excited,” she said.
“We received 200 chicks. We will take care of these chicks because we can see ourselves already making money and being able to take care of our families. We just want to thank Cde Tasikani for remembering us. We will not let him down.”
Nyamaere A group chairperson, Mrs Faith Maramba, also thanked the MP for the gesture.
“We are surely empowered as women. We received 200 chicks and we are happy as a group,” she said.
“Our MP has shown his commitment towards women’s empowerment and this will culminate in community empowerment and development. I thank him for championing women’s empowerment in this constituency.”
Mrs Portia Mapisa, the chairlady of the Chimurenga group in Ward 25 said all the members of her group are happy and thankful for the empowerment project.
“All beneficiaries are happy because of what our MP has done for them. No MP has done this for us before and today we feel honoured.
“This project will not only assist our families, but as women, we will also contribute to the development of our constituency. We will forever be grateful to our MP.”
