Chitungwiza Mayor councillor Phillip Mutoti has taken his ex-wife Alice Kuvheya to court on allegations of stealing his laptop and a mayoress chain during a domestic dispute at the time they were customarily married.

Kuvheya (31) denied charges of unlawful disposal of property when she appeared before Chitungwiza magistrate Ms Tafadzwa Miti who remanded her to October 19 for trial continuation.

Allegations against Kuvheya arose on July 7 this year at house number 343 St Mary’s where she was staying with Mutoti as husband and wife.

The court heard that Mutoti (44) left his laptop in their bedroom and went away after being engaged in a heated argument with Kuvheya.

It is alleged that Kuvheya then took the laptop away together with the mayoress chain, which belongs to Chitungwiza Municipality.

The chain was handed to her during the time she was married to Mayor Mutoti.

When asked to surrender the property, Kuvheya could not account for it, prompting Mutoti to report the matter to the police.
