Expelled Minister of Welfare Services for War Veterans, War Collaborators, Former Political Detainees and Restrictees Cde Christopher Mutsvangwa has congratulated his successor. Rtd Colonel Tshinga Dube, on his new post saying he had great respect for him as they had worked together since the days of the liberation struggle.
Rtd Col Dube, who was Cde Mutsangwa’s deputy, was elevated to Minister of Welfare Services for War Veterans, War Collaborators, Former Political Detainees and Restrictees.
Cde Mutsvangwa said he was looking forward to Cde Dube’s support in building relations between the war veterans’ association and their patron President Mugabe at the earliest possible opportunity.
“I have enjoyed and continue to enjoy most cordial of relations with the new Minister Tshinga Dube. We worked well when he was my deputy. We share identical views on the desperate welfare situation of our fellow war veteran colleagues,” he said.
“I value the deep knowledge of Minister Dube as my senior cadre during the national liberation struggle. I look forward to a goat braai at his farm as has been the case for the last two decades. I had a long chat (with him) when he phoned me this morning. We arranged to meet in Bulawayo soon,” said Cde Mutsvangwa. zanu-pf suspended Cde Mutsvangwa for three years for gross misconduct and disloyalty, while his wife, Monica, who was the Women’s League spokesperson, suffered the same fate.
The two will not hold any positions in the party during their suspension, but will remain zanu-pf National Assembly members for Norton and Senator for Manicaland, respectively.
Cde Mutsvangwa said because of the cordial relations which existed between them, he was confident that more business opportunities will be unveiled which would boost the economic conditions.
