MUTUAL Cycling Club manager John Machekera has hailed his team’s performance in their tour of Motloutse in Botswana on Sunday.

The team competed in the men’s Under-19, Under-23 and open categories.

Advocate Phiri (18) put on an impressive performance to finish second in the Under-23 160KM race, which he completed in four hours 26 minutes and 10.9 seconds.

Mthokozisi Sibanda also came second in the Under-19 100KM race in a time of two hours 54 minutes and 32,5 seconds.

However, Thabani Moyo found the going tough in the open event as he could only manage an eighth place finish in four hours 36 minutes and 27.7 seconds.

“The guys performed beyond my expectations. That was a great experience considering that it was the first time for them to compete outside the country.

“It was also a great experience because we were also representing our country,” said an elated Machekera.

Mutual Cycling Club, which was formed last year, will be returning to Botswana on October 22 where they have been invited to take part in the Annual Charity Challenge.
