HWANGE Football Club has a star in the making in Tendai “Shumba” Muvuti who is one of the best young talents in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.

Having been born and raised in the football loving city of Bulawayo, Muvuti started his football career as a Grade Five pupil at Mtshingwe Primary School and played for Cowdray Park Academy.

He then went to Mpopoma High School in 2018 and at the same time he also joined Biya and Friends Academy.

One of his best high school memories was in 2019 when he was part of the Copa CocaCola Dream Team that travelled to Kenya.

It is a sort of national team comprising the best schools talent in the country.

“It was one of my best football memories and it helped me to be one of the best of my age.”

He was also part of the Bulawayo Chiefs developmental side that was promoted to the Zifa Bulawayo Division Two League last season.

“It was one of my best achievements because I was part of a team that managed to win a league, an achievement which we all know that it is not easy to attain, I felt that I was ready for the bigger stage,” Muvuti said.

He joined Hwange Football Club in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League at the beginning of the season.

He is having a dream debut season for his side as he managed to provide an assist for his club’s top scorer Brighton Makopa in their side’s 2-1 victory against Yadah at Baobab Stadium.

“It started as a slow game for me but surprisingly after a few touches I got myself into the game and everything was going well for me to a point that I ended up providing an assist for my fellow teammate.”

“It feels superb to be a Hwange and Premier League player. I enjoy every moment and my future goal is to be one of the world’s best footballers, at the same time proudly representing my country.”

He has scored one goal and assisted three times so far this season.

He is out of action as he picked up a knee injury against Caps United and he hopes to hit top form when he returns.

Hwange play their next match against Sheasham FC away at Bata Stadium and Muvuti will hope that his team recovers from their previous 1-0 loss away to GreenFuel.
