Muzarabani joins Williams, Raza in the Caribbean

Brandon Moyo, Sports Reporter

ZIMBABWE international cricketer, Blessing Muzarabani will become only the third Chevrons star to compete in this year’s edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL).

The lanky fast bowler has been signed by St Kitts and Nevis Patriots.

The other two Zimbabwean internationals competing in the Caribbean T20 league are the all rounders duo of Sean Williams and Sikandar Raza.

Sikandar Raza

Williams and Raza are in the books of St. Lucia Knights and have already gotten off their campaign to a good start.

The 26-year-old fast bowler immediately made his debut for his new team as he was in the starting 11 during their season opener yesterday. However, at the time of publication, the match was still ongoing after it was disturbed by rain with three overs played.

The Zimbabwean ace had bowled one over and conceded eight runs.

Muzarabani’s St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots were up against Trinbago Knight Riders. He will be sharing the change room with the likes of Evin Lewis, Andre Fletcher, George Linde, Tristan Stubbs, and Dewald Brevis among others.

This will not be Muzarabani’s first stint in international T20 franchise leagues. He has played in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) for Multan Sultans. He has also played English County Cricket where he represented Northamptonshire for a couple of years.

Muzarabani brings in some experience to his new side in the Caribbean and will be an important member to the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots team.

The other two Chevrons stars in the Caribbean, Williams and Raza are sitting at the top of the standing with St Lucia Kings after two matches. They have played two matches, won one and lost one.

Sean Williams

In their opening encounter, St. Lucia Kings lost by 11 runs against Jamaica Tallawahs before going on to record a 54 runs win over Barbados Royals.

In the win against Royals, Williams fell three runs short off his half century on 47 runs from 30 balls while Raza scored 23 runs from 13 deliveries. Raza went on to take one wicket for 21 runs in his four over spell.

Playing alongside some international stars in the CPL will provide the Zimbabwean stars with good exposure and experience as they are set to take part in the T20 World Cup Qualifiers in Namibia in November. – Follow on Twitter — @brandon_malvin.
