Muzokomba crowned CSL soccer star

NICHRUT dominated the Central Soccer League (CSL) awards held in Shurugwi at the weekend where striker, Jacob Muzokomba, was crowned Soccer Star of the Year.

The former Dynamos striker, whose 20-goal haul also earned him the Golden Boot, said he is happy to have rejuvenated his career in the second tier league and is now looking forward to the Premiership challenge.

“I am very happy to be crowned CSL Soccer Star of the Year and I hope I will continue playing well when I go back to the Premiership. Hopefully, everything will goes well in the Premiership,” Muzokomba said.

The Premiership-bound side also had Bastos Chihowa named second runner-up, while Tafadzwa Javangwe walked away with the Goalkeeper of the Year accolade.

John Nyikadzino capped a fine afternoon for the Shurugwi-based side when he was named Coach of the Year for guiding Nichrut to the Premiership.

Other winners on the day were Tongogara’s Delight Chivhunduko, who was the first runner-up in the Soccer Star of the Year category, while Matabeleland South match official Sehlule Nyoni was named Referee of the Year.

Nichrut were also presented with their championship shield as well as medals for winning the championship, while Tongogara received the league’s runners-up medals.
