Mystery of Spoken Words

GREETINGS, beloved nation. Many believers have not fully understood the profound power and mystery of spoken words.

As a result, they often speak carelessly, unaware of the significant impact their words have on their lives and those around them.

Spoken words are a divine mystery — powerful enough to destroy or create. They can help, heal, hinder, hurt, humiliate or humble. Unfortunately, many believers remain oblivious to the spiritual consequences of the words that exit their mouths.

God has given us a unique priesthood and kingship — dimensions of authority that enable us to exercise dominion here on earth. The Bible affirms in Ecclesiastes 8:4, “Where the word of a king is, there is power: and who may say unto him, what doest thou?” As kings, one of the primary keys to exercising our dominion is through our spoken words.

Genesis 1:26 reveals that God granted mankind dominion over all creation. This emphasises the importance of words, which carry supernatural power.

We must understand that our world is a domain influenced by spiritual forces — both good and evil — and these forces respond to our words. Demonic powers, in particular, react to spoken declarations.

People of the world have long understood this principle. They speak demonic programming into the atmosphere — chanting, making proclamations at midnight or speaking in strategic places — thus influencing the spiritual realm and, consequently, people’s lives and communities.

Many struggle in life because of words that have been programmed into the spiritual realm.

It’s crucial to realise that negative speech isn’t limited to witches or wizards. Even well-meaning parents, teachers and believers often speak damaging words without understanding their spiritual power.

For example, calling a child “dull,” “useless,” or “will never amount to anything” can inadvertently shape that child’s destiny — demonstrating the power of spoken words.

Hebrews 11:3 says, “By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.”

God, in His infinite wisdom, created the universe through spoken words —”Let there be,” and it was so. Each of His spoken commands became reality and has endured since.

This is the mystery of spoken words: God’s creative power demonstrated through speech. He set a pattern for us to follow.

A prime example is Elijah in 1 Kings 17:1, who declared, “As the LORD God of Israel lives, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, except at my word.”

His spoken word brought about a drought that lasted three and a half years.

Similarly, Jesus’ ministry was characterised by speaking words that commanded authority. He spoke to diseases, demons, the wind and the fig tree — each responding to His spoken command.

This shows that creation, sickness, demons and even natural elements have ears and respond to words. They hear and act accordingly.

The Apostle Paul encourages believers in 1 Corinthians 11:1, “Imitate me as I imitate Christ.” We are called to speak and pray as Jesus did.

Isaiah 55:10-11 affirms, “As the rain and snow come down from Heaven, and do not return there without watering the earth… so is my word that goes out from my mouth: it will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.”

Every word from God carries divine power and authority. When we declare God’s promises, we activate the angelic realm — agents of God’s will — who assist us in reaching our divine purposes.

Conversely, negative words activate demonic forces, allowing them to follow and execute their plans in our lives. Positive confessions, on the other hand, activate the Heavenly realm to bring God’s promises to pass.

As kings and believers, we must guard our words about ourselves, others, our situations and our nations. The Bible reminds us that “where the word of a king is, there is power.”

Whatever we proclaim — positive or negative — becomes a spiritual decree that shapes our reality.

I invite you to receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour. Believe in your heart, confess with your mouth and you will be saved. May God bless you abundantly.
