“I have no peace… day or night!”
A 29-year-old man from Chipakanwa Village under Chief Marange in Bocha, Mutare, says he is exhausted by being sexually molested by a python, yet he admits he is beginning to enjoy the encounters.
Archford Chikwariro says his ordeal began while he was working in South Africa, where he lived with one of his nephews.
He claims the snake appears to him while he is wide awake, often preceded by a feeling of sleep paralysis (heavy pressure), whether during the day or at night.
“This problem started in South Africa. On the day it began, I saw a close relative who was supposed to be back home in Zimbabwe.
“I was shocked at how and when he had arrived in SA, I tried to greet him, but he didn’t respond.
“He just left the spot where I saw him, and that very day, I began encountering this snake,” says Chikwariro.
He says that from that day, the snake started coming to him while he was awake to have sex with him.
“This snake comes while I am awake; it opens its mouth and latches onto my private parts. I then start to feel pleasure. It sucks on me until I ejaculate,” says Chikwariro.
The man, who is not yet married, says the problem forced him to return home to Mutare.
He informed his mother, father, and other relatives, but they failed to help him.
“Sometimes if I try to resist, it ties my legs together like a bundle of firewood, throws me to the ground, and forces itself on my private parts. When I ejaculate, it swallows the semen,” Chikwariro explains.
He says he once tried to fight it by sleeping on his stomach to hide his private parts, but the snake then performed acts of sodomy on him using its head.
“Since returning home, the problem has worsened to the point where I have no rest day or night. It comes whenever it wants. My back is now constantly sore because it gives me no rest.”
Chikwariro claims the snake can start its “activities” from 8:00 PM until 5:00 AM.
“If it starts at dawn, it can stay with me until evening. If it starts at night, it stays the whole night. I have no peace.
“My mother died leaving me in this state. I am left only with my father, who is doing nothing visible to help me.”
He says his parents’ homestead has become a ruin as his father also fled the home for reasons unknown to him.
“My uncles tell me to seek help from my biological father. My paternal aunts are also doing nothing,” says Chikwariro.
He remains alone at the homestead as his seven siblings have all left. His sisters are married, and while he initially lived with an older brother, the brother eventually moved away, leaving him solitary.
“There are strange occurrences at our home; invisible people walk around at night. Regarding this snake, it is as large as a log.
“When it binds me and begins having sex with me, I lose my breath. I cannot even scream; my voice disappears.”
The man says the last time he had a girlfriend was when he was in Form 4, which was the end of his schooling.
He admits he now prefers sex with the snake over women.
Chikwariro eventually fled his home by begging bus crews for a free ride to Harare after a particularly gruelling night with the snake.
“I came from Mutare by bus for free because I wanted to tell my story to Kwayedza.
“Even just now, while I was waiting for you (Kwayedza reporters), the snake came and had sex with me.
“I told a man whose phone I had borrowed to call you that the snake had arrived; he ran away in fear, though he couldn’t see it.”
He says he is the only one who can see the snake. Even when it is busy with him, bystanders see nothing — they only see his body twitching and moving.
He claims his body is now emaciated due to the constant sexual drain.
“Wherever I go, I am told it is evil spirits from our family, or a case of ngozi (an avenging spirit).
“Others say it is the work of witches. The problem is I only see the snake once it is already between my legs, and once it is finished, it vanishes. I am suffering and looking for anyone who can help me.”
He notes that within his lineage, there are some relatives who are extremely wealthy.
Kwayedza attempted to find contact details for his relatives but failed. Chikwariro does not own a phone, making it difficult to keep a record of family contacts.
Sekuru Kanengo (Jimson Nyasala, 45), a traditional healer in Harare, suggests that Chikwariro is being used by relatives for “money rituals.”
“The swallowing of his semen by this snake is a way for some of his relatives to make money. He needs help immediately,” says Sekuru Kanengo.
Bongani Ndlovu
