IN a show of solidarity and community unity against crime, members of the public apprehended three armed robbers that attacked a shop in Mzilikazi with a pellet gun in a failed robbery attempt.

The incident happened last Sunday when the shop owner and his three employees were about to close the business premises.
“Police confirm the arrest of three accused persons Ted Karingisi (32), of Njube, Sabelo Ndlovu (48) from Entumbane and 32- year old Nesbert Ndlovu of Mpopoma in connection with an attempted robbery case in Mzilikazi on 7 June, 2026.

“The complainant, who is the shop owner, was at his business premises with three employees when one of the workers went outside to empty out a refuse bin.

“She met the three accused persons who forced marched her back into the shop,” Bulawayo police spokesperson, Inspector Nomalanga Msebele, said.
One of the armed robbers pulled out a pellet gun and demanded cash.

“The complainant handed over cash before one of the employees grabbed the suspect who was holding the pellet gun from behind and disarmed him.

“The employees called for help from people that were nearby who assisted them in apprehending two of the accused. The third robber escaped in a Honda Fit vehicle,” she said.
The two arrested suspects were handed over to the police.

Two days later police got a tip off that the third suspect who was on the run, was hiding at a house in Entumbane.

“Police reacted and arrested the accused person. We applaud members of the public for their cooperation and assistance, which led to the arrest of the accused persons,” said Insp Msebele.
She appealed to members of the public to maintain the spirit of community cooperation and vigilance against crime.

“Community cooperation remains vital in the fight against crime and in ensuring the safety and security of our communities,” she added.
