AWARD-WINNING musician Mzoe 7, has teamed up with fellow artistes from his neighbourhood of Entumbane to recreate a nostalgic epic titled Kudala Kwakunganje  — a futuristic Amapiano anthem that reflects on the past and how life used to be.

Kwaito maestro Mawiza, Dr Juta and producer Skido, were brought on board for the track, which breathes new life into its narrative through a catchy rhythm and soulful delivery.

On the song, Mzoe 7 and Mawiza deliver vivid verses that paint evocative pictures of the good old days, blending personal memories with a strong sense of community spirit.

The track then takes a spiritual turn as Dr Juta enters with deep, soulful chants delivered in tongues, creating a powerful and immersive experience.

His vocal prowess, expressed through melodic chants, lends the track a timeless and sacred quality, elevating it into an emotional and ceremonial journey.

Skido’s production is rich with classic Amapiano log drums, mellow synths and percussive grooves — elements that give Kudala Kwakunganje a sound that is both modern and deeply rooted.

Mzoe 7 said the song resonates with everyone’s childhood, describing it as a gem that many grew up listening to or singing.

“Kudala Kwakunganje,  celebrates the good old days —from fashion to food, culture, music and all the elements that make up Ubuntu. The song also pays tribute to the Ndebele King Mzilikazi and Mambo.

“The lyrics take people down memory lane, recalling Ezomgido, a programme that served the community well on the local broadcaster ZBC. It’s a feel-good, private Amapiano track that appeals across all age groups,” said Mzoe 7.

The single is accompanied by a music video directed by Corey from Visuals By Corey.

“The song is all about nostalgia and the good old days, so I wanted the visuals to match that vibe. We drew inspiration from the 80s and 90s, focusing on the iconic fashion of the time.

“It took us a few months to film, but it was worth it. I’m grateful to have collaborated with fellow creatives on this project — it proves that collaboration is the way forward for us Bulawayo artistes,” said Corey.

Meanwhile, Mzoe 7 hinted at staging a one-man show in August, promising fans a performance of the highest standard.

“With this single already out, I’m now working towards a one-man show to be held at the Bulawayo Theatre in August. The show will be a nostalgic journey, featuring songs that shaped my career — like Kwasakwasa, my urban hits like Asambeni and of course, Kudala Kwakunganje,” said Mzoe 7.
