His biggest accomplishment last year may have been performing on every stage and impacting a positive vibe in people through his thought-provoking music.
Using milestones that include winning awards in 2023 as a launchpad, Kwaito/AmaPiano artiste Mzoe 7 is hoping that the bright lights that paved his way last year will continue on an upward trajectory as he kick-starts the new year.
He believes he has learned “a thing or two” in promoting his brand.
“2023 was great as I mastered corporate engagement, which brought growth and confidence to me.
There are highlights I appreciate like attending the South African Music Awards (SAMAs) and being a brand ambassador for Rouxgold Travel, Klobber Fusion, and PPC Cement.
“The biggest challenges might have been trying to do most things by myself instead of having a team doing all that. However, this year, I have managed to invest in a PR team who will handle most of the paperwork while I focus more on being creative and giving people good music,” said Mzoe 7.
In a fresh year, he has set goals of limitless growth as a brand. The Asambeni hitmaker has set his sights on local and international collaborations.
“I am also looking forward to exporting my brand to the international community because music is universal. I feel it’s time that I put the brand out there. I would also want to work closely with up-and-coming artistes and also establish a hub that caters for them because there is too much talent out there that needs our support,” he said.
For local creatives to grow and reach international standards, Mzoe 7 believes that their art has to be first appreciated at home, with the business sector also supporting them through endorsements.
“The support (for artistes) is there but not to the levels most artistes expect. Some do appreciate and support the arts, I mean I am a living testimony who embraces massive support from local people.
“Our people are catching up but I still think there is a need for more engagements between the artistes and the people. As creatives we need to take the product to them and in due course they will give us the support we need.
“The business sector and the Government must also be in the mix in uplifting the arts sector. Corporates should engage artistes more, to grow both brands from both angles,” said Mzoe 7.
