NABA falls at last hurdle

ZIMBABWEAN representatives at the Zone Six Volleyball Club Championship NABA fell at the last hurdle after losing 3-2 to Zambian side Green Buffaloes in the final of the men’s competition.

The tournament ended in Maseru Lesotho on Sunday.

NABA who gave a good account of themselves at the tournament started their campaign with a 0-3 win over Falcons of Zambia, toppled Malawi’s Blue Eagles by a similar score line before dismissing hosts Lesotho Defence Forces VI 1-3.

In the quarterfinals, NABA emerged 3-2 winners over Angolan side Escorpions before proceeding to win their semi-final clash against Correctional Sunrise from Eswatini by an identical score line.

NABA was not the only country’s representative at the competition.

UZ Wolves lost the third-place play off 3-1 to Eswatini’s Correctional Sunrise.

Another Zimbabwean side Support Unit managed an eighth-place finish while Black Rhinos finished 11th.

In the women’s division, Zimbabwe had three representatives and the Support Unit finished the best-placed side on overall position nine. UZ Wolves and CUT Eagles finished 11th and 12th respectively.
