WARRIORS captain Marvelous Nakamba says he is ready to make more sacrifices to make sure young players get a chance to showcase their talent and be scouted.
He was speaking ahead of his foundation’s highly anticipated two-day U-17 football tournament over the weekend.
Ten academies from across the nation will converge in Hwange for a competitive tournament that has in the past identified great talent, including Warriors player Proper Padera.
“It’s an opportunity I believe many youngsters crave,” said Nakamba.
“Being part of the foundation that sets this platform delights me. I can confirm the tournament is ready to kick off, with all clubs confirmed.”
Participating teams include Njube Sundowns, Hwange, Dete, Binga Academy, Golden Lions, Scotland Academy, GG Academy, Biya Academy, Highlanders, and Nkayi Football Academy.
By creating this platform, the Nakamba Foundation continues to bridge the gap between grassroots potential and professional opportunity.
“Several youths are playing football but lack the right platform to express their abilities and get scouted. As a foundation, we believe this opportunity might change someone’s life for good,” he said.
“It is difficult to bring everyone from across the country at once but we have tried to pick representatives across the country.
“But as MNF we are also grateful to all our partners who are making this dream come to life. Our partners make our life and existence easy as it enables us to help as many kids as we can.”
Meanwhile, Nakamba is set to join the Warriors camp ahead of the upcoming AFCON tournament in Morocco.
He said he is geared up to represent the country and try to make history.
“Playing for the number one team in the country needs a lot of dedication, courage and commitment,” he said.
“I have seen that from the players and everyone who is associated with the team. Hence for me I am ready to give everything for the team and push the team towards the ultimate goal of winning all our matches.”
