Nama nominees unveiled

For the second year in a row the battle for the Outstanding Musician award is between Winky D, Sulumani Chimbetu and Alick Macheso. Last year Winky D, real name Wallace Chirumiko pipped the two to land the crown.
In the dance category Umkhathi Theatre Works’ two dancers, Faith Moyo and Hebson Chigodora Ncube are in the running for the outstanding female and male dancer respectively.
The group is also vying for the Outstanding Dance Group title. It was nominated alongside National Ballet of Zimbabwe and Victoria Falls Ubuntu Bomuntu Dance Group.
In the literary category under the Outstanding Fiction Book, AmaBooks’s Where to Now edited by Jane Morris is competing for honours together with Irene Saunton’s Writing Free and Wellington Kusema’s Lazaruses and Devases.
Nama award winner Zenzo Nyathi was also nominated in the Most Outstanding Theatre Actor category for his role in the theatre piece Indigenous Indigenous Indigenous, while another Bulawayo girl based in Harare Evangelista Mwatse was nominated in the Most Outstanding Theatre Actress category for her role in Colours of Dreams.
There will be no winners in the Outstanding Choral Group category after artistes failed to submit their entries for nomination.
Government, through the National Arts Council is bankrolling the event together with other partners.
