MASSIVE electoral fraud was unearthed at the National Association of Secondary School Heads (NASH) executive elections held at their annual Congress in Kariba.
Presenting their report, the three returning officers Mr Akuneni Maphosa, who is the Zimbabwe Teachers Association (Zimta) president, Mr Boniface Munyenyiwa and Zimta chief executive officer Dr Sifiso Ndlovu said the polls were marred by procedural irregularities that saw some provinces having as many as 15 more ballot papers than given to them.
“This report outlines a procedural irregularity encountered during the conduct of the NASH
elections and provides a justification for the corrective action taken in line with electoral
principles of fairness, integrity, and accountability,” reads the report.
The elections were held on Friday and saw Mr Cephas Mudumbe from Midlands province being elected as the Nash national president, polling 693 votes against his challenger Mr Elias Zvireva of Mashonaland West province who got 689 votes.
For the vice presidency, Mr Norman Gombera from Mashonaland East received 704 votes, defeating Mr Sicelo Dube of Matabeleland North province who managed 611 votes.
Mr Davy Mudeba from Manicaland province was elected secretary after getting 880 votes against his challenger Mr Charles Chiguware of Mashonaland Central who managed 676 votes.
Vice secretary race was won by Mr Norman Nyamambi of Matabeleland South with 953 votes, who defeated Mr Bhekoluhle Dube who polled 609 votes.
The treasurer’s post went to Masvingo province after their candidate Mr Cuthbert Chuma received 865 votes, defeating Mr Milca Mach of Harare who got 695 votes. Mr Tayengwa Maponga of Harare province was elected head in charge of sciences with 1014 votes against his opponent Mr Martin Nhokodo of Bulawayo who received 555 votes.
Indigenous Languages post went to Matabeleland South’s Ms Sithokozile Sibanda who got 1017 votes. She defeated Mr Doris Ngwenya of Bulawayo who received 530 votes.
Dr Shepherd Masunure of Harare province was elected head in charge of research having received 1150 votes against 415 that went o his challenger Mr Timothy Mandaza from Mashonaland Central province.
Debate and Public Speaking portfolio went to Mr Jephias Runesu from Harare province who polled 1106 votes, defeating Mashonaland West’s Mr Gideon Namona who got 466 votes.
Mr Abinel Matsiwa of Mashonaland West was elected as the new head in charge of tennis with 1306 votes in a contest where he faced Bulawayo’s Daniel Mbowa who got 257 votes.
Matabeleland South’s Sipho Khumalo will be in charge of athletics after he got 681 votes to Morris Ngara of Midlands province’s 413.
Mr Makichi Nyikadzino of Manicaland province will be in charge of volleyball having received 874 votes. He was contesting against Mr Tendai Makhuliyashi of Harare who garnered 494 votes.
Netball went to Junior Hakunavanhu of Masvingo province who defeated Matabeleland North’s Selphina Ndlovu with 826 to 534 votes.
Harare province’s Ropafadzo Matemavi will be in charge of football after he defeated Matabeleland North’s Khumbulani Sibanda.
