THE National Council of Chiefs in conjunction with the Ministry of Legal, Justice and Legal Affairs has entered the second and final leg of the sensitisation training for traditional leaders on marriage and inheritance laws.

Today chiefs are being familiarised with the new marriage laws and will be certified as marriage officers.

Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Permanent Secretary, Mrs Vimbai Nyemba who is representing Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi is expected to make a presentation on the training.

Traditional leaders from across the country are being equipped with basic knowledge of handling marriages, which is part of their responsibilities.

The training is being held at the Zimbabwe International Exhibition Centre in Bulawayo.

Under the new Marriages Act, chiefs are now marriage officers hence the traditional leaders will be educated on their roles.

The chiefs are also receiving training on inheritance issues as they are expected to tackle inheritance matters.
