The National Gallery of Zimbabwe (NGZ) is calling for artworks from creators ahead of their summer salon art exhibition dubbed “Becomings”.
In a statement, NGZ said the art collections must be submitted by September 30.

“We invite talented creators from all corners of our country to submit their artworks for the summer salon art exhibition – Becomings,” reads the statement.

“This exhibition celebrates the intersection of tradition, innovation, timelessness, and all of Zimbabwe’s art forms.

“‘Becomings’ seeks to showcase artworks that transcend temporal boundaries. Whether your medium is painting, sculpture, photography, or mixed media, we want your interpretation of the eternal present.”

NGZ said the exhibition is open to artists of all ages, skills and backgrounds. It is also open to both emerging and established artists

Artists are expected to submit up to two individual artworks or one body of work.

NGZ urged artists to consider works that evoke a sense of permanence, nostalgia or universality.

Artists are also expected to ensure that a brief artist statement (maximum 200 words) that speaks to their practice and work accompanies their works.

“The work to be submitted should bear the artist’s name, title of the artwork, medium used, dimensions (if applicable), and artist’s curatorial statement,” the NGZ said.
