National hero burial Monday

NATIONAL hero, Brigadier-General (Retired) Michael Chaminuka, who died last Saturday, will be buried on Monday at the National Heroes Acre in Harare.

He was 62.

His Chimurenga name was Pepukai Hondo.

Zanu PF National Chairperson Cde Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri delivered the message on the conferment of national hero status to the family on Thursday night.

In an interview yesterday, Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage Minister Kazembe Kazembe said Government and the Chaminuka family had agreed on the burial date.

President Mnangagwa will preside over the burial.

“The national hero Brigadier-General (Retired) Chaminuka will be buried on Monday next week after some consultations with the family.

“We are working closely with the family to ensure a befitting send-off for the gallant son of the soil,” said Minister Kazembe.

Mourners are expected to be seated by 7am.

Minister Kazembe called on the people to come out in their numbers to give a befitting send-off to the national hero.
