Manicaland Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister Advocate Misheck Mugadza has described the late national hero Cde Tinaye Elisha Nzirasha Chigudu as a committed and dedicated administrator who served the people of Manicaland and the nation well.

Addressing mourners who gathered in Chigudu Village in Chiendambuya, Headlands, to bid farewell to the national hero who will be interred at the National Heroes Acre on Monday, Advocate Mugadza said Cde Chigudu was committed to serving the nation.

“l attest that the history of Cde Chigudu is an inspiring story that has become a personal motivation in my political career,” he said.

“Now sitting behind the chair that Cde Chidudu used to sit as the Governor of Manicaland, I now know too well that on a daily basis he had to ensure that the people of Manicaland were served well.

“On behalf of the Republic of Zimbabwe and the Office of the President and Cabinet in Manicaland Province, l confer my condolences on the loss of this illustrious son of Manaicaland Province.

“He was our pioneering veteran of the liberation struggle, an intelligence maestro, a legal guru, our administrator par excellence and the chief political representative of the people of Manicaland,” said Minister Mugadza.

Earlier, Zanu PF provincial chairman Cde Tawanda Makodza had described Cde Chigudu as a unifier and a good leader.

He said during Cde Chigudu’s tenure as the ruling party’s provincial chairperson he ensured that the party won elections.

“This means that he worked well with the people and was a good leader,” he said.

Cde Makodza said as Governor, Cde Chigudu initiated many development projects in the province.

“He left us with a very important lesson that the Government and the party should work together for the success of the country,” he said.

“To all the comrades in Manicaland, let us unite, love each other and avoid fighting among ourselves. Let us walk together and respect each other. If we do that Vision 2030 will come to fruition.”
