YOUNG author Kelvin “The Royal Doctor” Tadiwanashe says his first book ‘This Is Our Country: Between Memory And Tomorrow,’ highlights the importance of national pride.
The author said the inspiration behind the book came from his love for the country and desire to encourage Zimbabweans to take ownership of their national story.
Tadiwanashe said his maiden book takes his readers on a journey through the heart of the nation, its stories, its struggles and the shared hope for a better tomorrow.
“The inspiration behind ‘This Is Our Country: Between Memory and Tomorrow’ is the love for my country. The national pride. That belonging is not a gift but it’s a responsibility. The responsibility for each and every one of us is to carry the nation forward.”
Tadiwanashe said seeing his ideas develop into a published book was a proud moment although the journey has not unfolded exactly as he had imagined.
“Dream coming true but not the way I had imagined, it is really fantastic.
“And to my younger self I’ll say well done. Well done. I’m really proud of you because where people have gathered, where the launch has come to reality, that means the ideas we have in mind can actually come into reality.”
Tadiwanashe hopes that the book will reach more people and stimulate conversations about who carries the responsibility of building Zimbabwe.
“This is the beginning of a beautiful journey. There are more to come.
“We have an idea on the table. It’s now time to bring it out to many,” he said.
Tadiwanashe wants the book to take readers through the experiences that have shaped the country while also challenging them to think about its future.
He also believes that the book serves as a call for Zimbabweans to remember their heritage, reflect on the country’s journey and work together towards a better future.
Officially launching the book, Minister of Youth Empowerment, Development and Vocational Training of Zimbabwe, Tino Machakaire, commended Tadiwanashe for using his creativity to contribute to the national conversation.
“It a the great honour to officially launch ‘This Is Our Country: Between Memory And Tomorrow’, a book by our young author Kelvin Tadiwanashe,” Minister Machakaire said.
“It is inspiring to see our youths refusing to stand on the sidelines but instead using their ideas, talent and voices to contribute to our national story.”
Minister Machakaire said young people had an important role to play in shaping Zimbabwe’s future.
“The future belongs to young people who dare to create, participate and lead,” he said.
