CHAIRPERSON of the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture Farai Jere has praised Treasury for its commitment to the refurbishment of the National Sports Stadium, which he says is now close to completion.
Jere was speaking at the ongoing 2026 pre-National Budget seminar in Bulawayo.
“Allow me on this project, Mr Speaker Sir, to thank Treasury. We are now behind because of the nature of the work which is being done, but all the payments to the contractors are up to date on this particular project.
“The project is key to restoring Zimbabwe’s flagship stadium to international standards, enabling the hosting of high-profile matches and events,” said Jere.
“Bucket seats have been fully installed, four gates with electronic sensors have been installed and a hybrid turf has been planted.
“Water and irrigation system is now 70 percent complete, perimeter fencing is now done,” said Jere.
