Natprint speaks on RBZ query

Herald Reporter
Zimpapers’ printing and publishing division, Natprint, has said it is investigating circumstances that could have led to its implication as one of the firms that has externalised foreign currency.

Government yesterday published an extensive list of companies that allegedly externalised funds or assets from Zimbabwe, and Natprint was named as one of the companies that had externalised $25 000.

In a statement released yesterday, Natprint said it is sifting through its paper trail, especially for “some transactions with foreign businesses that occurred between 2011 and 2012”, in order to establish what could have resulted in non-disclosure of the transaction.

“Following its appearance on a list of externalisers published under the category of companies that exported goods, but did not remit export proceeds, the National Printing and Packaging Company is conducting investigations to establish the nature of some transactions with foreign businesses that occurred between 2011 and 2012.

“The amount on the report is stated as $25,408.”

Natprint said it was conducting investigations in its paper trail for that period in order to establish the source of the transactions, including how the paperwork was handled.
