TELONE effectively sold their Premiership status the day they allowed Washington Navaya to leave for Hardrock without offering him a new contract.
Navaya has since picked up where he left off, scoring 14 goals so far for the newcomers as they continue to challenge for the title.
On the other hand, TelOne are deep in murky waters and will need a miracle to survive the drop.
They are currently third from bottom with 20 points.
And remarkably, while Navaya has scored 14 this year, TelOne have scored just 17 goals as a team.
The reality is that even just seven or eight more goals from Navaya, had they kept the striker, would have taken them away from relegation.
Last year, TelOne finished the season on 54 points, having scored 40 goals, with 17 of those coming from Navaya.
TelOne ignored that almost half of their goals came from one man was the beginning of their fall.
On Saturday, Navaya struck twice as Hardrock beat Manica Diamonds 3-0 to extend their winning run to three matches and keep the pressure on leaders Scottland.
Coach Kelvin Kaindu said, “I think it was a good game for us. Three wins in a row give us a bit of confidence, with Navaya also scoring two goals.
“It was not an easy game. Manica came determined and showed how much they wanted the victory. They were strong and made some good runs, but I give credit to my team.
“If we can score seven goals in three games, I think it shows how offensive we are.”
TelOne, on the other hand, lost their game 2-0 to Herentals at Rufaro last Friday.
