Ncube’s hero status request sent to Harare

In an interview yesterday, the Zanu-PF Bulawayo’s acting provincial chairman, Cde Killian Sibanda, said the provincial leadership informed the national leadership about the death of Cde Ncube on Sunday and yesterday sent a letter, recommending that Cde Ncube be declared a national hero.

“We have since sent our recommendations for Cde Ncube to be accorded national hero status and we are now waiting for the response,” said Cde Sibanda.

Meanwhile, messages of condolences poured in yesterday from the Bulawayo, Matabeleland North and South provinces, describing Cde Ncube as a dedicated, courageous and selfless cadre who loved his country.

Central Committee member Cde Godfrey Malaba said Cde Ncube was a political mentor to many.

“We are deeply saddened by the death of Cde Ncube. To some of us he was a political mentor and we relied on the likes of him for advice in the political field.

“We looked forward to learning more from him as he was a fine politician whose dedication was above board,” said Cde Malaba.

Cde Ncube died at Mpilo Central Hospital after succumbing to severe anaemia. He is survived by five children and three grandchildren.

Mourners are gathered at 88/7670 Mpopoma.
