SCOTTLAND coach Tonderai Ndiraya has hinted that the Premiership newcomers will be active in the mid-season transfer window, which opened at midnight, following a slump in form recently.
On Sunday they scrambled a goalless draw against relegation-threatened Triangle United at the Gibbo, making it three games without a win, after a draw away to Greenfuel (2-2) and a home defeat against TelOne (0-1) in the previous two encounters.
The results left Scottland, who have a game in hand, nine points behind leaders and bitter rivals, MWOS, after 18 rounds of matches.
Despite assembling a squad dominated by stars, Scottland have struggled to win matches and dropped points in 10 of their 17 completed matches to date.
Their biggest handicap has been in front of goal where they average less than a goal a match after 17 matches in which they have scored 16 goals.
The 18th match against Chicken Inn will be determined in the boardroom after the Bulawayo side walked off the pitch following a late penalty awarded to the hosts when they clashed at Rufaro last month.
It is looking most likely Scottland will be getting at least one striker and have already been linked with the SA-based duo of Douglas Mapfumo and Terrence Dzvukamanja.
Speaking after Sunday’s goalless draw at Gibbo, Ndiraya said it was qrong for football followers to say there is an abundance of talent at Scottland.
“I think quality is seen on the field. So, most definitely, decisions will be made to strengthen the team and I think the process has already started.
“This is the last game before the window opens. Let’s wait and see what is going to happen,” said Ndiraya.
Ndiraya has previously said while there is talent and big name players at Scottland, the squad lacks balance and will need reinforcement.
Meanwhile, Ndiraya felt their 0-0 draw against Triangle United was a good point.
The result against Genesis Magombe’s side meant that Scottland are still searching for a first win away from Rufaro where all their seven wins have been recorded.
“Gibbo is a very difficult venue to come to and collect maximum points. I think we are one of a few teams that have come here and collected a point.
“We wanted maximum points but I must also applaud and give credit to the boys for the way they fought today.
“Very difficult match. Remember Triangle were coming from a 5-1 victory against GreenFuel and for us to come and play the way we did today is commendable.
“Very massive point for us. It was a balanced game, not many chances created and in the end, nothing could separate the teams.”
