SIMBA Bhora Football Club may have lost their opening two games in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League but their coach, Tonderai Ndiraya is not a man in panic mode as he is picking up positives from the side’s performances.

The newly promoted outfit suffered a second consecutive defeat in the topflight league after they lost 1-0 to Chicken Inn at Luveve Stadium on Saturday.

This followed their 2-1 loss to FC Platinum on the opening day of the season.

Against Chicken Inn, Simba Bhora had managed to contain the Gamecocks until a lapse in concentration at the back allowed the hosts to get their goal in the second half.

Ndiraya feels he has a squad capable of turning things around in the next games.

“It has been a difficult two weeks for us but also it’s a test of character. We need to be very strong.

“As a newly promoted side we want to stay in the league. We want to survive relegation. We are not in the league to make up numbers.

“I think in these two games we have showed that we can compete against the top teams in the country.

“We will try and get confidence from our performances and try to get a result in the next match against Dynamos which will not be an easy one,” said Ndiraya.

Simba Bhora have a number of experienced players in their side which include goalkeeper Simbararahe Chinani, Tichaona Chipunza, Partson Jaure and Hughe Chikosa. The team is owned by mining tycoon Simba ‘Buju’ Ndoro and the newcomers hope to play their matches at Wadzanai Stadium in Shamva, with the facility currently being renovated to meet PSL standards.

For now, they fulfill their home fixtures in Harare.

The side was promoted to the PSL after winning the Northern Region Soccer League Championship last year.

It is the first time a team from Shamva has qualified for the PSL and they want to continue making history, that if they survive relegation. — @innocentskizoe
