ZIMBABWE football legend Peter Ndlovu has been appointed team manager at his former South African club Mamelodi Sundowns.
Although Sundowns have kept a lid on the issue, South Africa’s top selling soccer magazine Kick off yesterday reported that Ndlovu will be working as the new team manager at the club and replaces Mike Ntombela who has now moved up take over the technical director’s post.
Trott Moloto — who held the head of technical position, has now moved to become the chief of scouting.
Ndlovu travelled with Sundowns to Ghana for their pre-season camp and has been working closely with The Brazilians’ first team throughout their stay in West Africa.
Ndlovu had been assistant coach of the Zimbabwe national team by virtue of his position as national Under-23 head coach and Zifa have since seconded Dynamos’ Callisto Pasuwa and Jairos Tapera as assistants to new head coach Ian Gorowa.
There is also a possibility that Ndlovu will also be involved with the club’s development structures to help him enhance his coaching career.
Ndlovu spent four years playing for Sundowns upon his return from a lengthy spell in England and is familiar with operations at the big spending Absa Premiership giants.
Meanwhile, South Africa’s league runners-up for last season, Platinum Stars, have concluded the signing of former Dynamos striker Takesure Chinyama.
The former Orlando Pirates man had been training with Bidvest Wits for almost a month following his exit from Buccaneers.
The 30-year old underwent medicals with Dikwena last week and the club confirmed to South Africa’s Soccer Laduma that he will be turning out for the Phokeng-based this season.
Dikwena’s Football Manager, Senzo Mazingisa, confirmed the Zimbabwean’s deal, explaining that he has agreed to a one-year deal which includes an option.
“Today I can confirm to you that Chinyama is our player. He passed the medicals and he will be with us for two years. One year is the first one, but the second one is optional,” said Mazingisa.
