In a harrowing incident that has sent shockwaves through the Nkulumane community, neighbours of Viola Moyo are calling for urgent intervention from relevant authorities following her alleged stabbing by her step-father, Smart Dube, a prominent war veteran and member of the ruling Zanu-PF party.
Sources from the neighbourhood have expressed deep concern over Viola’s tumultuous life, marked by despair and a series of traumatic experiences.
One neighbour, who wished to remain anonymous, revealed, “Viola’s life has been nothing short of a nightmare. After coming out as a lesbian at a young age, she faced severe rejection from her family, who accused her of practicing a Satanic act. This not only affected her schooling but also left her feeling isolated and unloved.”

The neighbour recounted a particularly distressing chapter in Viola’s life, stating, “At the height of her troubles, her step-father raped and impregnated her. Despite her attempts to raise the alarm, her mother and relatives dismissed her claims as false, refusing to believe her.”
In the latest incident, Dube allegedly attempted to rape Viola again. As she resisted, he reportedly attacked her, armed with a gun and a knife, ultimately stabbing her in the stomach. The neighbour expressed outrage, saying, “This is beyond unacceptable. Viola bravely tried to report the matter to the police, but she was dismissed. Dube has boasted that he is untouchable, and it’s clear that he believes he can act with impunity.”

Local residents are now urging authorities to take immediate action to protect Viola and ensure her safety. They are calling for a thorough investigation into the allegations against Dube and for support systems to be put in place for Viola, who has already endured so much suffering.
As the community rallies around Viola, there are rising fears that without intervention, the cycle of violence and abuse may continue, leaving her vulnerable to further harm. Neighbors are hopeful that their cries for help will not go unheard and that justice will prevail for Viola Moyo.
