One of the country’s leading mobile services provider, NetOne, has partnered local leaders in Chikomba District in the fight against drug abuse.

The project includes donating sports kits and promoting community health and well-being.

On National Heroes Day 2024, NetOne hosted a sports event in the district.

The mobile services provider donated sports equipment for both men and women, thereby demonstrating their belief in the power of sports to create positive change.

NetOne chief commercial officer, Mr Learnmore Musunda said NetOne has a longstanding commitment to supporting community development across Zimbabwe.

“By collaborating with local stakeholders and leveraging our resources, NetOne aims to empower and uplift underserved communities,” he said.

NetOne acting head of marketing, Mr Tatenda Makumborenga highlighted the impact of drug abuse on young people saying the prevalence of drug abuse in society has had far-reaching consequences and is impacting families, schools and the overall well-being of the community.

“Addressing this crisis requires a multifaceted approach that involves education, support services, and community engagement,” he said.
“That is why we are here as an organisation, to also play our part in nation-building and creating sustainable communities.”
