TOURISTS will witness a rare spectacle as the 4×4 Jamboree returns to Nyanga after a 30-year absence.

Off-road and all-terrain enthusiasts, who last converged at the Brondesbury Hotel Nyanga in 1995, will be back at the same venue on May 11 and 12.

A major tourist attraction, the jamboree, which draws all-terrain enthusiasts and adventurers from across Zimbabwe and beyond, is held under the auspices of the 4X4 Club Zimbabwe.

Open to the public, courses have been set for all classes of vehicles from long wheelbase sport utility vehicles (SUVs) to specially modified competition vehicles.

A ladies and novice course will add fun, with participants camping within the venue.

George Chitepo, a legend in the 4X4 community, will take part in this jamboree which will allow the local community to experience this rare motorsport event.

Nyasha Makanza, one of the organisers of the event, promised fireworks.

“Participants will go through slopes, inclines, water, mud and rocks. There will also be the rock challenge and a steep incline where participants would guide their vehicles against gravity,” he said.
