Online Reporter

A 59-year-old man appeared before Concession magistrate Mr Joshua Nembaware on Monday facing charges of defrauding a clinic 11 times.

It is the State’s case that in a period extending from December 2016 and February 2017, Stephen Malunga withdrew cash (in United States dollars) from Tsungubvi Polyclinic’s Standard Chartered bank account.

In some of instances, he reportedly unlawfully and intentionally misrepresented to Tsungubvi Polyclinic that he paid US$700 to Predon Fencing and Building Contractors.

In another instance, he withdrew cash amounting to US$300 from the same bank account and handed over US$200.

He kept US$100 for himself.

The court also heard that the accused also withdrew US$2 745 from the same account and was supposed to pay US$500 to the Zimbabwe National Water Authority (Zinwa).

He, however, paid US$300 and kept the balance.

The total prejudice to Tsungubvi Polyclinic amounts to US$1 796.
