SUNGURA icon Alick Macheso, contemporary music muso Jah Prayzah and Zimdancehall sensation Enzo Ishall will be part of the performers at the Chibuku Neshamwari Traditional Dance Festival national finals.
The finals, which will see ten traditional groups participating, will be held on July 19 at Mutare Showgrounds in Manicaland province.
Part of the performing acts include The Vibrant Band and last year’s winners Nyaungwe Arts from Mashonaland East province.
Nine groups have managed to make the cut at the provincial finals, with the competition at provincial level wrapping up on July 5 in Shamva at Tippaz Night Club, where winners from Mashonaland Central province will be announced.
Bulawayo will be represented by Sekunjalo MaAfrica Arts, while Green Stars Dance Troupe will represent the capital.
Other groups that have qualified for the national finals are Jeketera Renyaungwe from Masvingo, Imvimbi Arts from Matabeleland North, Katawa Dance Group from Mashonaland West, Undi Gure from Midlands, Semvumba Arts Ensemble from Manicaland, Sekusile Dance Group from Matabeleland South and Goromonzi Arts Ensemble from Mashonaland East province.
The event is organized by the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe in partnership with the Zimbabwe National Traditional Dance Association (ZNTDA).
